U3A Network Art competition entries open February 1

Entries open for U3A Network Queensland’s Art Exhibition 2023.

The theme is: ‘U3A Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ Participants may consider any OR all the above theme words as inspiration for their artwork which this year will be a Collage.

A collage is a piece of art created by combining, for example, nature clippings, paper, fabric, or small objects (tiles for instance) onto a surface. The final work could be an abstract, using any materials, with nothing to limit your imagination. It could be also be created from pictures photographs, drawings, of U3A friends/activities, or family and friends arranged in the shape of another object. or a painting/drawing but it must include at least one other type of material. It may be an assortment of materials arranged in the shape of another object A collage created using a computer software program is not acceptable.

Artists can enter the exhibition by taking a photographs of the artwork and submitting it with your entry fee of $10.

Photographs s will be exhibited at U3A Conference in Rockhampton from  May 8-112023, and online on the U3A Network website. Interstate and International visitors will be attending the conference so exhibits will receive Australia and world-wide exposure.
The top twenty entries, as selected by the judges, will be entered into a people’s choice award and exhibited separately at the conference.

This exhibition is open to members of any U3A in Queensland. You may submit up to two entries at $10 per entry with a separate entry form for each and with a 25-word ‘blurb’ describing how your collage relates to the theme.
Art Tutors and members of Network committee are not permitted to enter.

There will be cash prizes for the best entries: First $200, Runner-Up $150, and a People’s Choice Award of $50 plus a certificate. The awards will be announced at the conference on 10 May 2023 and advertised on the U3A Network Qld website. Winners will be notified.
